Plus, when mi think bout mi almost 40 years of life lol I HAVE SO MANY of y’all. As far back as high school to tideh day AND if you know anything about me you know I LOVVEEE my friends. I mean good frens ARE better than pocket money.
When I decided to do this trip down memory lane this was really the hardest especially because some of the most important people are either not in photos or are no longer with us physically. Or back den phones neva so advance and we were more into living in the moment instead of trying to pose for a pic. Don’t get me wrong, mi have some really good photos of my friends LOL most of which they hate!!! LMAO but mi nuh care I love them
Now with all the pics I have and to how mi nuh waan lef out nuhbaddie mi couldn’t capture this inna one Instgram post; I mean how the hell mi put 39 years worth of friendship in 10 photos?
When I think about people like Shakeria, who drafted my first CV which got me all my jobs (including the current one), even though there is no pic of us together how can I not use a format that will allow me to include her.
Not to mention my friend from when Beccan. People when I started work at OCG, everybody told me he does not speak to people!!! LMAO well the people at wuk were shocked when a mi and him start par. Stubborn but always willing to give a listening ear and advice. Ah waan tell unoo say Beccan never used to eat a road and one day we on a work trip and whole day a fruits we a eat and inna di night mi tell him say mi nah go home hungry so we a stop a scotchies – ask if him fight. Well people after that, man nuh ramp fi stop a scotchies and go Lorna’s lol. We have been friends so long I went from picking up his daughter to seeing her graduate with endless CXCs. Come to think of it, this is the case for most of the JA friends, HEVERYBADDIE tun big pickney now.
Whether it’s #teamtanya #deliquents #lymers, or those I met from all my JOBS JOBS and more JOBS (post coming soon) lol!!! I must give thanks to and for all my friends. We may not talk often, but I know if I am ever in a jam and vice versa it will be well.
Note though that your friends are not there only to fill your cup, the reverse is true. You must see for friends what they can’t see for themselves. Mi nah lie it tiring sometimes cause unno nuh listen lol but I’ve seen what happens when y’all do.
What do I mean – every friend that have schoolwork send it to me! Lmao this is just hilarious when you think how mi hate school lol
I have told these stories before but I will tell them again:
- I remember when Mario had an interview at the US embassy and he called me to say that he would be late and wouldn’t bother to go. I seh wah? yuh mad?! Yuh betta find your ass at my office, and I’ll drop you. The worse that can happen is that they say no. Well low and behold bwoy get visa and a lib inna Paris now – talk to me nice
- Another friend – saw an opportunity but the pay was small. She called and asked what I thought, I say well the opportunities that would come from the job far outweighed the net pay BUT if it can’t cover your expenses then I wouldn’t recommend it. She said it could. Well people, I am happy to report that gurl get multiple visas, travel the globe, buy house, get degree, hubby got several certifications in the process.
- This nuh really relate to nuhbaddie but mi a share anyway – mi tell a my friends dem say if yuh a apply fi a job and you meet most of the criteria APPLY!!!!! All that can happen is that they say no and you nah go dead, I swear. All when you nuh know the job and get it tek it…give thanks for Google!!! That is more than some a di learned people willing to do.
Not to mention mi always a recommend my friend dem fi work.
My friends have BEEN there for me. From early morning rides to reach UTECH, sharing lunches in the coffin boxes lol, to busted tyres when I was living hand to mouth, paying the last morsel of tuition so I could sit exams and get my degree, helping me with assignments when they themselves had no clue (lol mi and rallo always a fight). To people like Berto who always have a joke or what I call a “Bertoisms”to make me feel better. To Delly Ranks lol who always see and blind hear and deaf! LOL!!!! She never knows anything yet!! LOL caan be mad, she always tell me mi too see LOL!!!!!! My #SLUdem massive and crew mi nah call nuh name but unoo know mi love unoo like cook food!
As for the Jamaican massive a plenty a unoo – especially the people who nuh deh pon social media (karlene, maxanne – unno plenty). Caan lef out mi Belizean crew – Therse RZoo lol accurately spelt (Arzu), Christine, Deon, Marlon.
And finally, to my social media massive and crew some I’ve never met in person. Large up unoo self!!!
